The Acting Workshop is a 14 week therapy group program for individuals living with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).  Acting requires abilities that are particularly difficult for those with ASD, namely: observing, interpreting, and portraying emotions by using facial expressions, body language, and tone of voice.  Through AFC's Acting and Improvisation Workshops, many of our clients demonstrate significant growth in these communication abilities.  Acting Workshops also assist clients with anxiety reduction and in social skill development.  

The Acting Workshop program provides the full theatrical experience for the clients, including: learning the fundamentals of acting and performing, engaging in creative theater exercises and games, memorizing lines and rehearsing a play, and performing an actual play at a community theater.  Past performances have been held at the Ohio Center for Autism and Low Incidence (OCALI) building, Otterbein University, the Columbus Performing Arts Center, the Short North Stage, and MadLab Theatre.

Under the supervision of Dr. Amigo, the Creative Social Arts Program at Amigo Family Counseling is directed by Ashley Amigo.  As an undergraduate, Ashley attended Ohio Northern University for Musical Theater and Dance.  Under her leadership, the Acting Workshop program has been an integral and influential program at AFC for over 10 years.

Dance & Yoga Classes

Amigo Family Counseling offers a variety of Dance and Yoga Classes for all experience levels. Dance and Yoga Classes are offered to improve the mental and physical health of our clients and also to improve:
